The only thing surprising to me about the fact that the Log Cabin Republicans have been denied a booth at the Texas Republican Party Convention is that...Log Cabin Republicans are surprised and that they even bothered asking.

Log Cabin Republicans still seem to think that Republicans are capable of being reasonable. Or sane. Or fair. Or just. Or rational. Or caring. Or compassionate. Or fair-minded. When and where they got the impression that the Republican Party is capable of any of those things or that the Republican Party could ever regard gay folks with anything but abject hatred is beyond me.

Of all of the political groups in the country, Log Cabin Republicans baffle me to no end. They are today's equivalent of Jewish people wanting to be members of the NAZI Party or Blacks wanting to be members of the KKK.

Truly, Log Cabin Republicans are the very definition of the phrase self-loathing. The group's very existence..."gay" "Republicans" is oxymoronic.

Here's a suggestion for all of those Log Cabin "Republicans" out there: Come into the light...and stop trying so hard to bring the dark side to you.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Maybe the best thing that ever happened to them. Maybe they will reason with themselves now and realize why the Republican party has never been on their side. Sad when it had to go this way, though. They could have simply thought about things in the first place.

Why in God's name would you support people who despise you and wish you nothing but ill? Baffling.

On one hand, you have the overt, virulent homophobia that characterizes every level of the Republican Party—local, state, and national. On the other hand, you have the established policies of the GOP that tirelessly advocate eliminating regulations governing clean air and water, safe medications, and healthy food, doing away with the recently-won ability to get health insurance, and savaging the safety net that keeps the unemployed, single parents, and the elderly from outright poverty, hunger and homelessness, all so rich people can have more tax cuts. These policies are not secret in any way.

The fact that there are "Log Cabin Republicans" who are still clamoring for Republican acceptance in the face of all that homophobia means that LGBT Americans can be just as eager to be selfish, greedy pricks as anybody else. I guess that's equality of a certain sort...

the party establishment is confusing, even foreign, at Daily Kos, but that is what the Log Cabin Republicans are doing. I personally know a gay Republican who won a local competitive primary.

I'm glad we have some gay people inside the Republican Party challenging the party on this issue. God knows I couldn't do it, and somebody has to. Gay people come in all shapes, sizes, and ideologies, and I'm not so quick to assign a "self-loathing" label to all Log Cabin Republicans just because they are Log Cabin Republicans. Surely there are self-loathing gay conservatives, no doubt, but broad brushstrokes aren't helpful, in my opinion. Frankly, I'm thankful for gay Republicans like Fred Karger.

from the gist of the article and the posts, can I assume it means gay Repubs/Baggers and by extension, anyone who simultaneously professes to be a member of a group long associated with the mainstream Repubs as one to loathe, but they are still determined to be a member of the GOP? Just askin'...

should go eff themselves as well.  The fact that they are there in the first place is troubling.  I guess for some, the fear of taxes trumps all -- even human rights.  So the log cabin chumps are willing to look the other way when it comes to bigotry and bullying, all because they might agree with the GOP on taxes or gun rights or some other right wing issue.

that Republican = masculine.  In other words, the Marlboro Man.  Marlboro Man wasn't  a real cowboy, the model died of cancer induced by the product he promoted--but, by golly, he was masculine.

Ah, the glamour.  I think that was the lure for the Log Cabin guys.

In Georgia, acting the fool with a gun is not only legal, it is encouraged by the governor and the state legislature.
