Hailey Idaho mayor has had to cancel planned festivities for the return of their native son after receiving many disturbing calls voicing disfavor for the (long) planned event. According to the mayor, one such call came from Texas where a man purporting to represent veteran’s organizations promised to come to Hailey with more than 2,000 vets to stop the planned parade. See below the fold for snarkalicious rumination.
The mayor was right to do so. There are perhaps more guns per capita in Idaho than there are in Texas. If they had shown up with guns it could have gotten ugly. How then would the NRA have weighed in with several hundred middle aged to ancient white men slapping down? Can you stand your ground if you are not from that state? Does the state of Idaho Stand Your Ground trump that of Texas? Would the various veteran’s organizations in Idaho who supported the Bergdahl celebration have defended their interpretation of Conservative Values? Do conservative values include threatening parade organizers? Cancelling hotel reservations because of mock outrage on Fox news is one thing, but promising that the south would indeed rise again with a platoon or two of Texans ready to take back America from Idaho.
Has Ted Nuggent weighed in on this? Has he said that Bergdahl didn’t need to wander off base, all he had to do was fill his pants and leave them that way for a week, just like Ted? Oh, wait, got the wrong Nugent, must be thinking of the representative (gop) from Florida who had said the US should do everything it can to obtain Bergdahl’s release. Indeed, Nugent has expressed surpise not long ago at how many of his caucus’s congresspeople didn’t even know that we had a POW still left behind. Be interesting to find out of many of them are sudden experts today.
Those who have run in front of the bus to attack the president through this person’s misadventure will soon find the country at large has little taste for it. Especially, once Bergdahl is sanitized, debriefed and repatriated, he is able to present himself and the circumstances that led up to his capture in a sympathetic light.
If you think he was in bad shape after being held by the Talliban for 5 years, I doubt that the condition of the men release from Guantanamo was any better. What “value” they have as terrorists would be questionable. Read “My Guantanamo Diary” by Mahvish Khan for one of the more genteel portraits of the inhumanity practiced there on a deep and depressing scale.
So, stand your ground, America! That is REAL Americans! The drive by socialist takers have betrayed us again. Let us emblazon our new rallying cry far and wide:
BERGDAHLZI!!!
