I first discovered Chris Weigant’s Friday Talking Points at Huffington Post. He’s listed as a blogger there and his regular Friday column became a must for me over a leisurely Saturday breakfast. By the time breakfast has been polished off, washed up and put away and my second coffee steaming on my desk, I was ready to comment on CW’s latest column. It was the perfect start to Saturday morning.
Then one Saturday, about six weeks ago, his regular column was absent! What to do, what to do? I consulted the previous week’s column – ah, there’s a link there to CW’s website. Click on link... register... check index... oh there it is! Saturday breakfast with Chris has now resumed normal service – but not with Huff Post. I go directly to his website now because all the other blogs he writes during the week are there too.
He cross-posts frequently but not with Daily Kos unfortunately. This means Kossacks are missing out so I’m here to remedy this:

This will take you to CW’s home page where his latest blogs are listed. Currently at the top is the latest in his regular Friday series. It’s well worth reading, particularly the Talking Points section further down.
CW’s Talking Points series follows a specific format:
Introduction – this comprises a rundown of the week’s most notable political issues with CW’s perspective on each. In some cases he will have written a full blog on individual issues during the week – check them out if they are topics which interest you.
Most Impressive Democrat of the Week – this comprises honourable mentions as well as the award itself. Usually, it also includes a link whereby you can congratulate the award winner on their efforts if you feel so inclined.
Most Disappointing Democrat of the Week – I like the inclusion of this because it not only keeps us grounded in the fallibility of all human beings but also highlights areas which we need to improve. CW’s policy is never to provide links for this award winner.
Friday Talking Points – Usually there are seven of these but this week he stepped out of the usual format to provide an alternate reality look at the Bergdahl issue – it’s a fascinating read.
For me, CW’s blogs are as valuable in helping me to refine my opinions as Daily Kos is – and that’s a big call! Though I don’t always agree with his point of view, I have found within his writings solid arguments to refute right wingers and perspectives on issues that I hadn’t considered. Among my favorite blogs of his are:
Friday Talking Points [297] – Democrats Unveil 2014 Strategy
which begins with this cheeky opener:
The Supreme Court heard arguments in two cases where corporations are requiring certain women to wear a scarlet "A" on their uniforms... um, no wait... that can't be right... let me check my notes....
Democrats Should Widen Focus On Voter Suppression
The Continuing Awfulness of the GOP’s Efforts to Reach Out to Women
Friday Talking Points [301] – Seven More Amendments which follows an earlier blog: How Would You Amend The Constitution?
From The Archives – Cut Congressional Chaplains This was information I was unaware of until I read this blog.
Friday Talking Points [302] – Give America A Raise!
Well that should be more than enough to be going on with! Choose one of the above or visit his website and choose a starting point from there. Maybe, if enough of us like his work, Chris can be persuaded to cross-post at Daily Kos.
