I guess that this is a proposal for a Constitutional Amendment, but perhaps it can be dealt with otherwise.
Assets seized by government agencies of any sort, federal, state or local, must default to the general treasury. Allowing law enforcement agencies to keep these assets creates a conflict of interest and an incentive to abuse police powers in order to benefit the police agency monetarily.
Perhaps other reforms need to be made as well, such as forbidding law enforcement from perusing civil remedies altogether.
Any ideas? or suggestions?
