Open Carry Texas and Come And Take It had one of their demonstrations yesterday and I attended for about a half hour.
I got there a little before the published start time hoping to be there before them, but there were already a half dozen of them there, hanging out in front of the Jamba Juice, shoulders draped with AR-15s, other military style rifles and shotguns, and several had holstered old black powder pistols.

Pictures and more below the fold

I strolled up, sign furled, took my position behind their table, unfurled and hoisted my sign and started chanting
"What do we want?"
"AmmoSexual freedom!"
"When do we want it?"
"Accept our gun fetish!"

One of the guys started telling me how it wasn't PC to talk about "AmmoSexuals" because it was demeaning to homosexuals because I was implying there was something wrong with them and Ammo sounds like Homo.  Or something.

The bizarre thing was that almost everyone LOVED my sign.
I got some quizzical looks.  To those, I'd hold up one hand with my thumb and forefinger about an inch apart.  That usually resulted in a big laugh.
Even the gun toters liked the sign--check out their facebook page--they want to make t-shirts with the slogans.  Check out their messages -

About half past the hour, the two squad cars were joined by Detective Brown.  She spent some time talking with the gun exhibitionists and then addressed me:
"So what's your sign about?"
"I'm mocking them"
A faint trace of a smile was evident in the corners of her eyes, but she maintained a very professional demeanor and let me know that I and the exhibitionists were on public property and would have to move to the sidewalk along Westheimer if we wanted to continue.
I told her I'd had my fun and had better things to do with the rest of my day.
I thanked the detective and the officers, said good bye to the exhibitionists, and left to soar in the central Texas skies.

OCT/CATI plan to do this every first Saturday.  I won't be able to make the next event.  Maybe others will.

Cheers y'all!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
