3:58 PM PT: Races we'll be watching tonight: VA-07 (R); VA-08 (D); SC-Sen-A (R); ME-02 (D & R); NV-04 (R); NV-LG (R).
4:13 PM PT: We're getting our first numbers from Virginia.
4:17 PM PT: VA-07: Well this is unexpected. Seven percent of precincts are in and Majority Leader Eric Cantor is trailing challenger Dave Brat 58/42. Only 5,000 votes are in, but Brat is up in every county that's reported anything.
4:22 PM PT: VA-07: This is getting real. Fifty-three out of 244 precincts in and Brat leads Cantor 60-40. In both candidate's home county Henrico, Brat has a tiny lead.
4:26 PM PT: VA-07: About a third of precincts are in and Brat leads 57-43. Cantor is posting small leads in some small counties, but has to be nervous about Henrico.
4:28 PM PT (David Jarman): VA-07: The Brat lead is not just a geographical quirk. All of the major counties in the district are reporting, with nearly 1/3 of all precincts in, and Brat leads in two of the three big ones (suburban Chesterfield, and more exurban Hanover). Cantor would have to hope that the remaining precincts in Henrico (the biggest county here, with 66 precincts in VA-07, and where Brat is leading 52-48 in the 15 that have reported so far) break strongly in his favor.
4:28 PM PT: VA-07: More of Henrico is in, and Brat is narrowly winning it 52-48. Leading 58 to 42 districtwide.
4:29 PM PT: VA-08: About six percent of precincts in and former Lt. Gov. Beyer has 49 percent. At least this one is shaping up as we expected...
4:36 PM PT: VA-07: Fifty-two percent reporting and Brat continues to dominate, leading 58-42. If there's a more shocking upset in recent American politics, I can't think of it.
4:38 PM PT: VA-08: twenty-two percent reporting and Beyer clearly in front with 45 percent. Nearest opponent at 22.
4:39 PM PT: The liveblog continues here.
