Hello all. Haven't done this in a while but I felt compelled to write again, to sing again, to share again. For the first time in a long time.
You see I'm been a bit downhearted lately. Watching blame and mud and hate from the sidelines may be popcorn time for some, but for me it gets painful. And it just makes me remember why--at least I believe--we are here....
We're here to stand. To stand with and for one another, to take chances and laugh and love because we understand that our time here is altogether too short. We stand behind one another because humanity can achieve the most amazing things when we stand and voice it.
I lost a woman I loved dearly to cancer. So, while I don't have much...I stand and give for those with cancer.
For everyone battling cancer, I stand behind you.
For everyone that is a survivor of rape, I stand behind you.
For everyone that is a victim of racism, I stand behind you.
For everyone that has lost someone to senselessness like gun violence, I stand behind you.
For everyone battling homophobia and bigotry, I stand behind you.
For all the poor and meek and unblessed, I stand behind you.
For all the addicts and the mentally ill, I stand behind you.
For everyone who ever thought no one gave a damn about them, I stand behind you.
For the ill and needy, I stand behind you.
Because we're not here alone. And you can call me naïve, you can call me whatever you wish...but we're here to stand with one another, understanding that while we know that peace and love may seem like whimsical concepts they are alive and well in the everlasting imagination of all of us.
We. have. to. stand.
