I'm an educated, young, sensibly minded male from the northeastern part of the nation. I am lucky enough to have gotten into a strong field and enjoy full time employment. I am a politically active petition signer. I believe in science. And I believe that all decisions have consequences, and you need to take responsibility for the consequences of your actions.
I am also a gamer. Now, gamers like me frequently get a bad rap. Despite all of the scientific studies to the contrary, we are perceived as lazy and/or aggressive ne'er-do-wells who live with mommy and daddy and don't pull their own weight.
But that stereotype is quite simply outright refuted by the facts. When you consider the majority of my fellow gamers, we're young, healthy, tech savvy problem solvers with strong critical thinking skills and a little something called "Gamer's Intuition" - that leads the best of us towards a very unique goal, making the best possible decision with all available and unavailable information. We look for all the possible solutions to a problem before we make our move to resolve it. Because, more often than not, there is a better path to tread than the one laid out immediately in front of you. And if it exists, it can always be found.
But that's not really why I'm writing this. See more below.
What I'd really like to do is fire up a city building simulation game, one already commercially available on the market, and build two cities.
The first one I would model off of a strictly Democratically influenced set of policies.
The other, I would model off of a strictly Republican influenced set of policies.
The end goal would be to take these cities and compare them, from a simulation designed solely for entertainment purposes with the end goal of the user being nothing more than building the most economically viable city that you can, and see which one actually scores higher across the games ledger of numerous statistical representations.
This will be a rather lengthy and time consuming process, as city building sims are not easy and tend to take a long time.
But my question then to you is... in the commebts section, how would you like to see me raise these two fledgeling cities? Let's get a list of policies going so that I have a short list to work from and can reference things while I'm working on this in an appropriate way.
