Let me tell you a brief history of myself. I have been working on the Internet since the days that you had a black screen and green letters . It was a time before the world Wide Web. If you ask people if they had been on the web, they would ask what is that?
In those days, Bill Gates was a young man and Windows version 3.0 was free...
Things have Changed since those days
Over the years I have acquired friends within the W3 consortium the builders of the World Wide Web. Like almost all web workers the developer community, I was often aware of things happening on the web years before it becomes public knowledge.
In one such case I was made aware of the Utah Date center and the NSA two full years before the public even knew of it's existence. I happen to be talking to a fellow developer who was working on the total awareness system for the DOD and we started talking about the specs of the data center. Although He was not allowed to give out exact specifications, is did give me a Ideal of the jaw dropping size of the system that he was working on.
If you get excited over the multicore technology of your modern laptops, your jaw would drop if you were told the number of cores the NSA monster has. Let's just say it is 50,000 plus and they are configured to function like brain cells. The storage ability of it is rated between between 3 and 12 exabytes . In Lay terms that means , yes we can download the entire Internet, and do. In fact, during testing, the first time it was put on line it proved to be to powerful for the Internet hubs to handle and it crashed two of the Internet Supercomputer hubs and had to be shut down to keep the Internet running.
Upon hearing this from my friend , I replied back nervously that in my opinion there could be only two purposes for a supercomputer that large . A. to discover time travel or B. to rule the world. he flatly replied back "you are right on one " but never told me which one.
Simply put the Utah Data center is thousands of times more powerful that what would be actually needed to hunt global bad guys which was the publicly stated purpose at the time of inception.
So the birth of the Matrix started the day the Utah Data center went live.
The trailer above, that you just saw was from a trailer for the 1968 hit sci-fi thriller " Colossus, the Forbin Project" As you see, this movie turned out to be nearly prophetic in relationship to the Utah Data Collection center.
Enough of the doom porn for now, let's get on with the matrix shall we .
Part One: Filter Bubbles of the Matrix
view Eli Pariser's 2011 TED Talk 'Beware of Online Filter bubbles' First
Eli Pariser stated in his talks :
As web companies strive to tailor their services (including news and search results) to our personal tastes, there's a dangerous unintended consequence: We get trapped in a "filter bubble" and don't get exposed to information that could challenge or broaden our worldview. Eli Pariser argues powerfully that this will ultimately prove to be bad for us and bad for democracy.
Basically , When you do a search the machine returns results to you based on algorithms that come from your data that was harvested. Thus you are now inside the Matrix... Your results are based on what the machine wants you to see. your world is now shaped by those algorithms.
Upworthy is Pariser’s first major project since he published his 2011 book,The Filter Bubble: How the New Personalized Web Is Changing What We Read and How We Think
Here is another short article about Pariser and Filter Bubbles :
WHO RULES THE INTERNET? THE ANSWER MIGHT SURPRISE YOU
Part Two: Predictive Analytics of the Matrix
Now this is the Really scary and dark part of the Matrix. Predictive Analytics: The Power to Predict Human Behavior. It is most likely they reason that the NSA needs such massive computing powers. The more data the system can get they more accurate the predictions.
On The New American web site :
Another constitutional issue that arises when a person is arrested based on predictive analytics derived from computer data is the right guaranteed by the Sixth Amendment to one accused of a crime to confront his accuser. How can a person confront — constitutionally — a computer?
Predictive Analytics: The Power to Predict Human Behavior
Another Interesting use for Predictive Analytics is running possible public reactions to government actions. Say for instance you wanted to get a feel for the reaction the public might have if you ban free speech.
Predictive analytics is the science that turns raw data into useful information. In the very near future you may be placed in protective custody because the machine predicts that you may soon commit a crime...

Part Three: Weaponization of Social Media by the Matrix
In a recent Guardian Story and on a Daily Kos story here it was pointed out that
social scientists tied to Pentagon counterinsurgency operations are involved in the "study of emotions in stoking or quelling ideologically driven movements," he said, including how "to counteract grassroots movements."
You might want to take a closer look at how quickly the Occupy Movement faded keeping this technology in mind.
In conclusion, Put Predictive Analytics software in the Utah Data Center Add a few thousand military sock puppets in social media outlets such as facebook ,reddit. Then Control Social media communications within the Matrix with Filter bubbles and bingo you have the Matrix and the Forbin Project all rolled into one.
