HuffPost and WSJ just reported: It's ba-a-ack.
From the Huffington Post:
WASHINGTON -- The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee approved a bill on Wednesday that would force approval of the controversial Keystone XL pipeline. But the bill isn't expected to go up for a vote in the full Senate any time soon.
The bill, cosponsored by committee Chairwoman Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.), passed on a 12-10, mostly party-line vote. Landrieu and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) were the only two Democrats voting for it, the Wall Street Journal reports.
The House version passed about a month ago. Fred Upton emailed his constituents and bragged about how it sailed through his Energy and Commerce Committee and passed the House. He co-sponsored it along with about
130 other Republicans and two Democrats—
John Barrow of Georgia and
Jim Matheson of Utah.
This action prompted someone (disclaimer: maybe me) to post My least favorite Congressman just helped revive the Keystone XL pipeline here at Kos. Among other ideas, the article suggested contacting Senator Mary Landrieu (D, LA), who leads the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, and ask her to make sure the bill dies in her committee. Instead, she sponsored it, got it through her committee, and turned it over to Harry Reid.
The Huffington Post says, "Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is not expected to bring the bill up for a vote in the full Senate."
So. Now what?
Contact the four Democrats—Landrieu, Manchin, Barrow, Matheson—and ask them to explain?
Contact Harry Reid to confirm that he won't bring it to a vote?
Can we just please stop doing stuff that puts more carbon dioxide in the air? Could we petition Congress and ask them to please stop exhaling?
