Remember the mentality that led to several delegates at the Republican National Convention to toss nuts at a black CNN camerawoman because it was "how we feed animals"? Well, that mentality appears to have made its way to the Faith and Freedom Coalition's Road to Majority Conference. For those who don't know, it's a Christianist outfit founded by former Christian Coalition executive director Ralph Reed. The speaker list is a who's-who of wingnuttery--Michele Bachmann, Jerry Boykin, Ted Cruz, John Bolton, Rand Paul, Allen West, the Benham brothers, Chris Christie and many others.
HuffPo's Igor Bobic happened to be in the bathroom of the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, and discovered someone had put a figurine of Obama in one of the urinals. No, this isn't snark:
To their credit, representatives of the Faith and Freedom Coalition condemned this in the strongest terms. However, they maintain that it's highly unlikely one of the conference attendees put it there. Riiiight. Given what we know about the mentality of the rank-and-file supporters of the religious right, if anyone believes an attendee didn't put it there, there's a bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you. Good for Reed's people to denounce it, though.
