I'm about to turn 76 and I have 30 years of "out and about" to be thankful for, but the previous 30 years weren't pretty. My particular status pro ante was Roman Catholicism and I parted company with that lot at the Pontifical College Josephinum - a papal seminary in Ohio -when the implications of puberty became unavoidable. In the fall of 1955, this was a very bad scene. Immoral, illegal, insane - you know the drill. My family, my (former) friends, and the local religious luminaries in my home town might as well have been invading Martians were they to be believed and I not.
Long perspective lets me revisit my amateurish attempts at creating a new Weltanschauung (world view, love those Germans!) at the tender age of 23 more than 50 years later. I'm up for this, but I wonder how many others in their fourth quarter-century have made the cut.
