Finally some truly GREAT news for Chris Christie
Time for New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to bust out some happy new dance moves,
reports Politico:
Iowa poll: Chris Christie gains on Hillary Clinton
Chris Christie has narrowed the gap with Hillary Clinton in Iowa, a new poll says.
Indeed,
the poll, conducted by Quinnipiac, does show that to be the the case. Hillary has gone from leading Christie by 13 points in March to 8 points now, from a 48-35 deficit to a 44-36 deficit. So, Christie has gone from getting completely smoked to simply being walloped. Congratulations!
Then again, if you look at a somewhat broader context, the numbers aren't so good for Christie, because in December 2013, he led Clinton by 5. I guess a 13-point net slide is better than an 18-point net slide, but neither are particularly good news. Even worse, one year ago Christie's net favorable rating in Iowa was +26 points. Now it's -2. Last I checked, that's not the right direction to be headed.
Christie isn't the only story in the poll, however. Clinton leads Rand Paul by 6, down from 10 in March, and leads Jeb Bush by 13, down from 14 in March. However, her lead over both men is actually larger than it was in December, when she led Paul by 1 and Bush by 7.
And what about Clinton overall? One year ago, her favorable rating was +9 at 52/41. Now ... drum roll please ... she's at +9. 52/41. So, if you up periscope a bit and look at a broader set of polls, not much has really changed: Clinton was leading then, and she's leading now.
Well, I take that back. In December, Christie was leading. Now he's not. Still, the poll is great news for him. Great news indeed.
