Received this e-mail today from Democratic strategist, Paul Begala, on behalf of Michelle Nunn's (D. GA) U.S. Senate campaign:
I've worked on a lot of campaigns over the years -- especially in states where all the pundits told us, "Just forget it, pack it in, you can't win there."
However, with the right candidate, with the right message, in the right state, and at the right time, it's amazing what kinds of odds you can overcome.
And that's exactly what's happening with Michelle Nunn in Georgia right now. I'm so impressed with her as a candidate, and I know she'll be an amazing senator. Even the polls and the pundits have warmed up to the idea that for the first time ever, Georgia voters will send a woman to the Senate!
Don't get me wrong -- this is still gonna be one heck of a tough race, especially when all these right-wing super PACs pour millions of dollars into Georgia to try to tear Michelle down.
That's why I'm doing everything I can, including making a contribution myself, to help Michelle's campaign prepare, fight, and win -- and I hope you'll stand with me.

I spent many happy hours riding across Georgia with my old boss, Bill Clinton, when he carried the state back in the day. There was something special in the air then: a sense of optimism, of being larger than oneself, and of coming together to elect a different kind of leader.
I get that same sense now, when I look at Michelle's candidacy.
That's what makes Republicans so scared -- and why outside right-wing groups have already spent so much money in Georgia.
They have every right to be scared. Just a year ago, they thought they had this race in the bag for the GOP. But now Michelle is surging in the polls -- narrowly leading both of her potential opponents.
Their side is going to call in favors from every special-interest, right-wing billionaire they know to win this race.
If we're prepared, we're going to win and make history by sending Michelle Nunn to the U.S. Senate. But to be prepared, Michelle's campaign needs your help today.

I know that Michelle will be a top-notch senator when (not if) she gets to Washington. But it's up to us to help make sure that happens.
Thank you very much for your support. Michelle can win this!

By the way, things continue to get heated between Rep. Jack Kingston (R. GA) and David Perdue (R. GA) going into the runoff:
http://politics.blog.ajc.com/...
The pro-Jack Kingston Southern Conservatives Fund continues to dump television ads onto Georgia voters. Another $50,000 buy brings the group’s total spending to $465,000 this year.
It’s not posted yet, but we’re hearing the pro-Perdue counterpart PAC Citizens for a Working America is expanding its Atlanta TV buy and going into Kingston territory of Savannah for the first time. - Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 6/25/14
And Perdue even has a new website up attacking Kingston's record in Congress:
http://22years.com/
Here's what Perdue's campaign had to say:
http://www.peachpundit.com/...
“Congressman Kingston, a long-time appropriator, voted for thousands of wasteful earmarks before they were banned.
“During his 11 congressional campaigns, while Kingston was handing out earmarks with taxpayer money, nearly half of his campaign contributions came from PACs and lobbyists.
“Kingston ran for Congress in 1992 on congressional reform. Among the ideas that he claimed to support, Kingston advocated term limits. Fourteen years and seven terms later, he came up with another reform plan that included energy independence and tax reform. Now, eight years later, the congressman has a ‘new‘ plan that includes energy independence and tax reform.
“During his over two decades in Washington, the federal debt has ballooned by $13 trillion from approximately $4 trillion to over $17 trillion. Meanwhile, Kingston has voted numerous times to raise the debt ceiling and even voted to raise his own pay seven times.” - Peach Pundit, 6/24/14
The longer and nastier they duke it out, the better for us. So click here to donate to Nunn's campaign:
