Part of my goal this year is to increase the User base of Daily Kos via the use of Sharing and Twitter.
I've noticed a number of Kossacks have now added a "Follow Me" button to their Signature Line (SigLine) and it floats there on every comment they make here on Daily Kos. Just like mine:
I implore ALL OF YOU who use both platforms to do the same.
I want to be following all Kossacks on Twitter and I would love it if you all made it easy for me.
That's not all...
I would really, really love it if the new iteration of Daily Kos, due out sometime this summer (per Markos) had the ability to insert not just that "via @dailykos" after the link in the Tweet created when we hit that "share with Twitter" button under the headline of the diary in question - but the Twitter UID of the author, too.
Why?
So that Tweeters who read the post, might then have the ability to #follow that person on Twitter.
Which will (in all likelihood) bring them back here to Daily Kos, to read more of what that person they now follow keeps posting about that "Daily Kos" place.

How to do it
So, how does one add that to their Signature Line and start getting fellow Kossacks to #follow them on Twitter?
Go to your Profile Page. Follow the link "Edit Profile" found here in your Welcome Back box, found at the top right of any page on Daily Kos when you are logged in:
Now, on your Profile page, look down to the section labeled Comment Preferences here:
Twitter itself has a page where you get the code to put in that Comments Preferences box, you'll find it here Twitter Buttons.
You choose which one you want of the types offered (Follow) and the page populates what you need, copy that code in the box as shown:
FYI: this is ONLY an example, you must go to the Twitter Button link above and get the code for YOUR Twitter account.
Once you copy and paste that code into the Comments Preferences box on Daily Kos and click the 'Save Changes' button (at the very bottom of that EDIT PROFILE page) - the code will change!
This is NOT an error. It's the beauty of the hidden code monkeys who have written a little bit of magic to reduce the large amount of code from Twitter to just what is needed by the Daily Kos platform to display the button. Bow down and thank them and move on...
Next comment you write (and every one after that, too), once posted, will display your "Follow me" Button. Which allows fellow Kossacks to #follow you on Twitter without ever leaving Daily Kos.
