WASHINGTON, DC - JUNE 06:  Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) leaves after speaking during a press conference following the weekly House GOP caucus meeting at the U.S. Capitol June 6, 2012 in Washington, DC. The House Republican leaders said that letting the Bush tax cuts for the wealthest Americans expire would be  harmful for the economy and proposed the cuts be extended for a year so Congress could reform the tax code.  (Photo by Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images)
Received this e-mail today from Alison Lundergan Grimes' (D. KY) U.S. Senate campaign:
Across Kentucky, tens of thousands of students and graduates are facing the reality that college education is increasingly unaffordable.

Last month, Mitch McConnell blocked a bill that would have helped millions of students struggling to pay back their student loans. Mitch's latest obstruction is part of a disturbing pattern of putting the needs of millionaires and billionaires over the needs of working families.

This election, Kentucky and our country have a clear choice. Alison understands that affordable education is critical to creating jobs and building a strong middle class. In fact, Alison has presented a detailed plan to help make education more affordable and accessible to all of our young people.

Sign our petition and send a message to Mitch McConnell: we're ready for a Senator who puts students and working families first.

Unlike Mitch McConnell, Alison knows that we have to do everything we can to help our students succeed. That's why her plan allows students to borrow at the same low rates as Wall Street banks and allows graduates to refinance their student debt to take advantage of today's low interest rates. Alison will also fully fund Pell Grants to make sure that education can be a passport out of poverty for all our families.

Alison is running to fight for students and graduates, not millionaires and billionaires. To make a difference, we need your help.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
