  Happy July 4th readers.

On Monday, five male Catholics jurists promised to strictly limit their Hobby Lobby decision enshrining Catholic dogma relating to medical contraceptives.

The following day, Tuesday, they broke their word and expanded that decision.

Ginsburg, a Jewish female, and, Sotomayor, a Catholic female, Democrat appointed, wrote two excoriating dissents.

Pretend you are a Republican and are assessing the impact these possibly related decisions.  This is:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

that extremism in any form is dangerous and should be avoided at all costs?  Even those brave, evangelical Christian extremists?  Even those heroic, politically activist, theological justices?

Perhaps I am overstating a little, but I kinda doubt it.

For far too long we have allowed reactionary activist judges and justices to go unchecked and uncensored in our judiciary.  Perhaps it is now time to rethink that decision.

Hey GOP! You'll get my Obamacare when you pry it from my cold, dead hands. And thanks to Obamacare, that just may be awhile.

  •  A ruling on an injuction expands nothing (0+ / 0-)

The Wheaton College case is still in the appeals process and has yet to reach the SCOTUS. The ruling was regarding a request for an injunction, it was NOT a final ruling from the SCOTUS.

That's very funny.  A ruling which expands a prior ruling is not a ruling.   Or did they mean "limited to Catholic dogma we agree with" as the limits to the Hobby Lobby decision.  If you are right, I cannot imagine why Justice Sotomayor got so upset and wrote a scathing benchslap accusing them of lying.

I understand the argument in a Duns Scotus sort of way.     All those who believe this should vote for the poll's "not newsworthy" option.   Surprised that did not get more votes.  Too painful a truth I guess.
