A fetus is deserving of protection because it is a "potential person". A Honduran 12 year old is not deserving of protection because...?
Well, I think I have the solution to this vexing contradiction among the policies of those who foam at the mouth equally in opposition to harming "potential" children AND in favor sending real ones to their squalor, human trafficking, and death.
There are no more "illegal aliens". There are only "potential citizens."
You see, that is the problem with folks who amusingly call themselves "Pro Life"; they only like "potential", not reality. They hate real revenue coming to the government, but love "potential" benefits of tax cuts resulting in more revenue. If there are real people being really helped by insurance under the ACA, they would like us to focus on the "potential" problem of utter economic collapse from...well, maybe because of losing all the "potentially" sick people? I mean, what would all our potential doctors do, causing the non-building of potential new country clubs due to the loss of all those "job creators".
Ah, "job creators", the GOP's loving nickname for really, really rich people. Now, this only goes to show how much conservatives love "potentials", because these rich people aren't actually creating jobs, but they have the wealth and, therefore, the potential to do so. They are to be rewarded for that potential, especially due to their status as potential campaign donors.
So, let me see if I got this... All we have to do is call these desperate, imperiled innocents "potential citizens", and conservatives will be freed from their trap of internal contradictions so they can forget about aliens and love the little, actual human beings.
