The GOP's new #Benghazi committee
might not have much to show for itself in terms of results, but it does boast a hefty price tag—$3.3 million—and that's just for a partial year.
As Igor Volsky writes, that means House Republicans will be spending more on their Benghazi charade for just a few months than they will spend on the Veterans Affairs committee for the entire year. And if you extrapolate the Benghazi panel's numbers out to a full year, their budget exceeds that of nine committees, including not just the committee on veterans issues, but also the committees on small business, intelligence, agriculture, budget and ethics.
It's hard to understand how the GOP can justify spending this money, but the fact that they're willing to dump loads of cash on a transparently political investigation while simultaneously refusing to allow emergency unemployment benefits to even come up for a vote does illuminate their priorities. And yes, it's yet another example of why you can't really blame Tom Perez for wanting to punch someone every time he hears from those ignorant blowhards on Capitol Hill.
