"I do solemnly swear to impeach Obama as soon as the election is over."
House Republicans haven't impeached the president yet—surely, they will wait until after the election is over to do that, assuming they retain power.
But, reports Politico, they are enthusiastically united in support of House Speaker John Boehner's pre-impeachment lawsuit against the president. For example:
“The President’s response to this was to say: ‘so sue me.’ So Mr. President, we will sue you,” said Alabama Rep. Bradley Byrne. “Not because we want to, but because we have to defend the Constitution you won’t abide by. We have to protect the rights of the people in this country that you continue to transgress.”
To be sure, these crazed rightwing lunatics won't be satisfied with the lawsuit—instead, they see it as a first step. What's next?
Kansas Rep. Tim Huelskamp supports the lawsuit’s theory but would also like to strip funding from agencies like the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Energy.
Huelskamp, who ran an unsuccessful campaign to unseat Boehner as speaker two years ago and has continued to prod GOP leadership, said he wants the House to flex “the power of the purse.”
Great. Not only will we get impeachment, but we'll get another attempt by wingnuts to shut the government down ... unless, of course, the American public stands up and votes these wretched bums out.
