If you saw this front page story, "Minnesota Republican Explains where AIDS comes from", and you were as outraged as I was, you might consider donating to Bob Frey's opponent in Minnesota district 47A.
Two years ago, I was the endorsed DFL (that's Democratic-Farmer-Labor party, guys) candidate for Minnesota House in district 47A, central and western Caver County. This year I sought and won endorsement again.
And then I stepped aside for a better man, whom I now enthusiastically support. His name is Matt Gieseke, and he's awesome.
Here's Matt's Donation Page. Any amount, no matter how large or small, will be gratefully appreciated.
Here's Matt's website.
Here's Matt's Linkedin page. Wanna see an awesome resume? For a guy who's just graduated from the U of M, and is now heading for his Master's at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute?
Political background:
This is a blood-red district. It's Michele Bachmann territory, folks, and this will not be easy. But Democrats have won here before, so it's not impossible. And there are two bits of GOOD NEWS that make this especially winnable this year.
First, there is no incumbent. The current officeholder, Ernie Liediger, is stepping down.
The even better news is, Republicans in Carver County are split right down the middle. They have two candidates who are headed to a primary, after a bruising endorsement fight that finally ended up 51-49 on the eighth ballot before they gave up and did not endorse.
One of those candidates is Jim Frey, whose, shall we say bizarre views on biology have made the news. The primary is in August, and if Frey wins (which is a distinct possibility) I'll write another diary and hit you up again.
In the meantime: GO MATT GO!!
