Received this e-mail today from Senator Tom Udall (D. NM):
The Internet has always been a space for creativity and entrepreneurship. It’s a place where a mom-and-pop operation can compete on a level playing field with giant corporations, and where information flows freely and openly.
But that could soon change. A rule proposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) would end net neutrality, allowing Internet service providers to throw up toll booths on the information superhighway.
Companies would be allowed to pay for access to Internet “fast lanes,” allowing for faster delivery of their content. Small businesses, startups, innovators, and anyone who can’t afford the toll would be left in the dust.
I’ve joined with a group of my colleagues to fight to protect net neutrality. If you’d like to help, click here to sign our petition and demand Congress take action to stop the FCC from allowing Internet “fast lanes.”

Eliminating net neutrality would end the Internet as we know it. It could create a tiered system, and allow service providers to decide what content is easiest for you to view. The result would be a less vibrant Internet community.
I’m fighting to protect the Internet, and you can too. Add your name to our petition today.

Thank you for your support and for working to protect net neutrality.
