One of the most iconic aircraft of the Cold War era is the Avro Vulcan. A massive delta-winged bomber, it's unmistakeable in flight. XH558 is the only one still airworthy. And she won't be flying much longer; the service life of her engines is about up in 2015, and rebuilds or replacements are not an option. If you can get to Hendon, the Vulcan on display there is now being opened up for cockpit tours, though check to see when they're scheduled. Another BBC video has some up close and personal shots.
