First we get a
female Thor, now the mantle of
Captain America is being taken up by a black man. Seeing such actions as this, as well as having Heimdall played by the amazingly talented Idris Elba, one has to ask: Is this all just coincidence, or is Marvel intentionally trolling the fuck out of rightwingers? Either way, the teabaggers can take it up with Thor.
Ok, so for those who don't know comics, Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, has been a long-time partner of Captain America, and has until now been known as Falcon. His character was introduced in 1969, and was the first African American superhero (Black Panther was African, from the fictional nation of Wakanda) You might remember him from Captain America: The Winter Soldier; he had that really cool exosuit with the wings. So yeah, Falcon, in the comics, was a long-time partner of Captain America, so much so that for awhile they called the comic book Captain America & Falcon. So this move does make perfect sense, nor is it unprecedented, seeing as how Bucky/Winter Soldier took up the Captain America mantle for a time.
This move though will undoubtedly raise the ire of many a rightwing jerk. Mostly because anything that isn't a white, heterosexual, Christian male existing in any non-subservient role pisses them off. Now I'm just waiting for Marvel to introduce the new Iron Man as an undocumented immigrant from Mexico.
