Got an important-looking envelope in the mail yesterday: 'REGISTERED DOCUMENTS ENCLOSED' along with a 'REGISTERED SURVEY NUMBER' on the front, and a 'DO NOT TAMPER' rubber stamp imprint (or at least it was supposed to look like one) on the back. Goll-ee, I shore must be an important person to get a letter like this!
Inside was a four-page, pre-skewed survey from the Democratic National Committee (with hardball questions like "do you support President Obama's efforts to give everyone a pony?"). Its back page promised to make my "leadership role within our party* official" with a contribution of $25 and up. (The last choice being "Other $__", I guess if I only want to become a semi-official leader.)
Okay, the thing is with Congress (or at least the Senate) seriously in play this time around, I was actually tempted to send a couple of bucks to these grifters, then decided their offices were cushy enough without my $5 or so.
Question to the audience: where can I contribute my bux so they'll do the most good for progressive candidates in tight races?
* "In America, Democratic Party find you." (Yakov Jerkov please call your office.)
