This is a series of diaries highlighting animal rescues around the country and noting and celebrating the work they do to help animals who have no voices but ours to speak for them. I have long wanted to start a rescue but lack the resources or time available to do so right now so this is my attempt to do my part. I hope that these rescues will benefit from the kindness and benevolence of the community here at Daily Kos. I chose this rescue, Noah's Arks Rescue, because they were suggested by
not this time. They are an amazing organization and worthy of Kossack attention and care.
Noah's Arks Rescue
"Noah's Arks Rescue is a 501c3 not for profit organization that supplies emergency medical, surgical and rehabilitation to abused animals. We are not a shelter. Our wish and lifelong hope is that our Society becomes educated in the ethical treatment of all animals and to stop the senseless killing of animals that have been tortured and abused."

Meet Cosette
Sweet Cosette is doing wonderful and ready for her new home. The large wound on her sternum has almost totally granulated. This amazing little girl has the best personality. she loves everyone and acts like she is two years old, rather than ten years old. I think the tumors have been painful for her for a long time. Now they are gone, and she is free to be a puppy again. Our little Angel melts the heart of everyone she meets. Fill out an Adoption Application if you are ready to be loved unconditionally by this wonderful little dog.
We are still taking donations for all of the surgeries that she had and would appreciate any amount. Thanks for caring and being part of her Journey to Survive and Thrive.
Meet Humphrey
Gentle Humphrey is a 12+ year old Chow Mix that was abandoned in Richburg, SC. As you can see from the pictures, he has had a terrible life of severe neglect. He has very little fur left on his body and what he does have is in horrible shape. Humphrey is a hot mess with so many things wrong that it was hard to figure out what to deal with first when we initially got him. He has such a bad infection in his eyes that he can hardly see where he is going. His ears are so infected that I feel pretty certain his hearing is minimal. Humphrey's skin problem is either a flea allergy or a thyroid problem. He has an enlarged testicle and prostate. The list just goes on and on. Cultures and bloodwork have been sent off and are pending. Once we get the results back, we will have a better idea of exactly his medical issues are. One thing is for certain, whatever life Humphrey had before, he is far better off being away from the people that neglected him so badly.
Humphrey is the sweetest older Gentleman that is Gentle and Kind. You know if he could talk, he would share stories of many adventures sprinkled with pearls of Wisdom that only comes from age. Never turn your back on an older dog. They have earned the respect and love that comes from a Lifetime of giving their all. How you treat an older animal is exactly how you will be treated when you get to be their age. Humphrey has a lot more living to do and will make an amazing Family dog. We all can learn a lot from how he handles all the hardships he has endured. Humphrey will be in the hospital for the next month getting well and being showered with the love and respect he deserves. If you think your heart is big enough to be showered with his unconditional love, please, fill out an Adoption Application for him.
Meet Macy
MACY is enjoying her low-country summer. Her favorite past time is having her belly rubbed underneath while she is lying in the warm sun. She also loves to take a long walk to investigate the world around her. She's a very inquisitive pittie pup!
You would never know by MACY's horrible beginning that she could love people the way she does. She's infectious with her sweet spirit. She is always so happy to greet you with her tail constantly wagging. She has a such beautiful smile.
She doesn't like the thunderstorms but no need to worry, we spoiled her and got her a big igloo den to hide away in until the rain passes.
She's a very special girl looking to find her forever home. She needs to be the only animal in the home, and with the right owner, patience and love, MACY will be one incredible puppy life partner.
And lest you think I was going to only tell the sad part here are the success stories!
