Really? Something isn't right...
I was scrolling Facebook at lunch, and came across the picture shown here with the news link. Obviously, several liberal leaning friends picked up on it and ran with it.

Something about the article didn't seem right to me, so I started doing some research.

Follow me below the squiggle...

The link in the picture takes you to this article. When I first read it, they were all up in arms about this story, claiming it came from Drudge. (They have since updated)

Of course, I wanted more information...so I went to Drudge to check the original out. It seemed odd to me Drudge would be pushing a story linking Michelle Obama to GMOs. My instincts were right, there was no story on their website about it when I searched.

The only other stories I found about this were all on right wing news sites. I thought that if this were true, it would be all over DailyKos and other liberal leaning sites considering liberals are typically anti-GMO.

Well...surely Monsanto would put out a press release if they are donating that much money. Nope. Not a word on their website.

At this point, I know it is a hoax to piss off liberals...and sure enough, the original source is found. A satire website.

Please remember to check the source before blindly sharing on Facebook. There are going to be more things like this purposely done to piss us off and demoralize us ahead of the midterms.

I'm gonna do all I can to keep that from happening...VOTE PEOPLE!!!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
