I'm an incredibly long time lurker. This is my first diary post. So, be kind, but also be honest! Many of you have carried forth my arguments for certain issues that I care about. But, with this, it's my turn!
(P.S., about my screen name...it's not something violent...it has to do with golf and playing forged irons, lol)!
About me...first of all...
I'm a REALAmerican. My parents were born here. As were my grandparents. After that, it depends on which side of the family you're looking. I'm 50% Italian, and the rest is German, Swedish and Polish. A true mutt...aka an American!
I've read about the various attacks against immigrants...INNA (Irish Need Not Apply). Also experienced, in the 70s and 80s my dad telling me that we were rejected because our surname ended in a vowel.
The matter is...we are the country we are because of WHO we are. Where we came from, what "culture" means to each of us. But it' matters because we SHARE it with each other!
Here's what's important...my great (or great/great) grandparents came here for a reason...much like our current immigrant brothers and sisters. They weren't, necessarily, welcomed. But they were here. And that has made all the difference for our country. We should do the same for everyone.
Hope you like the next...songs, rather than text, help explain things so much better....
