Good morning! Welcome to the DKos Sangha weekly open thread.
This is an open thread for members of the DKos Sangha and others who are interested in discussions concerning how we integrate our progressive political activism into our spiritual practice. If you have observations about the political discourse of the week, or about practice, or about anything else related to walking a spiritual path through the political world, if you wish to share, or if you seek support, or if you simply want to say hello, please do; this space is for you.
If you would like to write a diary for the DKos Sangha, please let me know.
If you care nothing for spiritual practice and only wish to denigrate and disparage, please do so elsewhere, and respect that this is a community diary for the DKos Sangha.

Each day is new. Each new day unfolds in ways unexpected; our experience of the world we move through is always fresh, always different. The only unchanging thing is the awareness within which it all appears.
When we experience the day to day world as awareness, there is no sameness, no dullness, no boredom. Everything just is, and we experience everything as it is.
Egoic conditioning, on the other hand, sees the world as other, and is rarely satisfied for long. There is boredom, restlessness, longing, desire for something different. There is frustration, irritation, exasperation. There is blaming, disappointment, despondency, anger.
But when separation dissolves, when conditioning dissipates, everything is experienced as it is. Even our routines, making coffee, cooking meals, washing dishes, are experienced just as they are.
It is all rather ordinary; no drama. There is an appreciation for things, flowers, trees, architecture, music, craft, that is much richer when we are unburdened of the drama of egoic conditioning, when the veil of separation is lifted.
This equanimity of being is our natural state. The anxiousness and dis-ease that separate self often feels seems unnatural because it is. The seemingly never-ending search for happiness that separate self suffers, the dissatisfaction, the emptiness felt that one's life is unfulfilled, is never-ending because separate self isn't our natural state.
But right here underneath the veil is who we really are, the experience of things as they are; ordinary, no drama.
Even from the illusion of separate self, we can see the results of selfishness, greed, desire; and we can know the effects, the consequences, of anger, fear, resentment, blaming. Awakening from the illusion, awakening from the dream-world that separate self creates, we see the world as it is; we experience the world just as it is without the separation, without the anger and fear, without the dissatisfaction. There is a richness and fullness in ordinary every-day things. There is a peacefulness, there is calm.
There is an appreciation for simply what is in this moment.
Namaste

You are welcome to join us each week in our Monday night group meditation here at DKos Sangha. This online group meditation is hosted by Ooooh, and the diary is posted at 7:00 Eastern. So that we are able to be together for as many here at Daily Kos as wish to participate, the meditation period runs from 7:30 to 10:00 Eastern. This group sitting is open to beginners and advanced, and is not restricted to any particular traditions or practices. It is not expected that you sit for the entire period; sit for as long as you like, when you like. The idea is that we are here together; supporting each other, holding space for each other.
