Jason Ritchie has taken strong stands as a progressive Democrat on important issues for all of us. Here's your chance to ask questions, go more in depth and get to know him. Since any reddit member can ask questions, this should be interesting!

Date: Tuesday, July 29, 2014
Time: 3:00 pm PST (6:00 pm EST)

The reddit site says they update their calendar at midnight so I don't have a link to his specific hosted "I AM A". The calendar on the bottom right of the Reddit I AM A page has times/links to the I AM A's and in the upper right is a log-in or link to create an account.

Jason welcomes this opportunity to interact and says he is looking forward to our questions. More info below the path to turning the House BLUE in 2014.

I have never used reddit so please jump in the comments with any information that might be helpful.  Here's some basic information:

reddit noun, verb
noun: a type of online community where users vote on content
verb: to take part in a reddit community
“reddit is a great example of a site that has become far more than simply a social-networking or link-sharing utility and has grown into a real online community that can get things done.”
...I AM A is a place to interview people, but in a new way. "IAmA" is the traditional way of beginning the description of who you are; "AMA" is the traditional way of ending the description; the acronym means "Ask me anything." The interviewee begins the process by starting a post, describing who they are and what they do. Then, commenters leave questions and can vote on other questions according to which they would like to see answered. The interviewee then goes through and responds to any questions that he/she would like, and in any way that he/she prefers.

WA-08 is R+1, won by President Obama in 2008 and 2012. Last October during the GOP shutdown a PPP poll showed the incumbent GOPer Dave Reichert with underwater approvals of 32-47.

This is a district that should be blue. Jason is working hard to make that happen and we can help. Will you get involved?  Here's how!

WA-08 district map

Voter registration info: If you live in WA-08 you can check your voter registration, determine your candidates, where to return ballots or register to vote. The registration deadline for the primary has passed, but you can register now for the general election in November.

Primary Info

July 7      Deadline for voter registration, address change and other updates
July 18    Start of 18-day voting period (through Election Day). Ballots are mailed out
and Accessible Voting Units (AVUs) are available at voting centers.
July 28    Deadline for new Washington State voter registration (in person only)
August 5    Primary

Help close that funding gap:

DONATE: The GOP is funding incumbent Reichert's campaign 7 to 1. Every dollar now will make a big impact on Jason's campaign.  Join me and be a part of the action to get a great candidate who is on our side.

Add keywords that describe this diary. Separate multiple keywords with commas.
Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?

    I didn't realize it when I moved. I'm like 2 blocks into district 8.

I voted for Ritchie. I mailed my ballot back today.

He really is progressive on all the issues and takes very clear stands. He's working hard.

I'm in a very red county in red state Indiana so doing this from a distance.  His team has been wonderful to work with.  I hope you will consider phone banking or volunteering in some way. I wish I could and think it would be a lot of fun.

Democrats are totally demoralized here. So for the midterms, I'm putting my energy into the districts we can win and this is one of them.  Votes are what counts so you just took a step to make it happen. Thanks for letting me know. :)
