The title of this diary is probably a bit over the top, but the graphic isn't. Thought you might like to see it too.

I realize that its only using janitors as a comparison, but it's disturbing for me nonetheless.
If there was ever a sign that today's job market for young people is screwed, it's in the GIF above. Many of today's best and brightest young people are graduating from college to mop floors. So much for college being the golden ticket to economic success.
Thirty years ago, a college degree was a coveted status symbol that nearly guaranteed a respectable job with decent pay. But for today's young people, not so much. - Policy.Mic
I have a 25 year-old son who is currently an undergraduate at MHCC (Mt. Hood Community College, Portland). His major is Computer Science, and he's doing extremely well.
I didn't go to college. Though the cost would have been a major factor, the main reason I didn't contemplate continuing was because I was SO tired of going to school. I got a job almost right away, so the thought of attending college quickly faded into the background. My husband and I (both 61) are just getting by with a small drywall construction business we own. We have no means by which we can help him out, and I know we're not alone in that circumstance.
So, while I'm extremely proud that he wants to continue school (and is doing quite well, btw) I'm horrified at the thought of him having to bear the burden of college loans -- and for god knows how long.
It scares the crap out of me.
