Rep. Steve King in heated confrontation with Erika Andiola and Cesar Vargas
Goal Thermometer

DREAMers Erika Andiola and Cesar Vargas stopped by a fundraiser in Okoboji, Iowa, to introduce themselves to Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Iowa's Rep. Steve King, who is also known as an ultraconservative crazy person and rotten human being.

Erika introduces herself as a DREAMer and you simply cannot believe how fast Rand Paul gets up to run away from the table. He is taking his first bite of his sandwich when his aide hears the DREAMer introduction and the senator bolts from the table, with a mouth full of food, rather than face the questions that he senses are coming. Instead, he leaves crazy person Steve King to fend for himself.

Erika hands King her DACA card and challenges him to tear it up on the spot since he seems so intent on getting rid of Erika and the millions like her. The confrontation becomes heated, with King saying numerous highly offensive things to the Arizona State University graduate and her companion, law school graduate Cesar Vargas, such as "You're very good at English." Even more offensive, toward the end of the discussion, people can be heard in the background yelling "Go home! Take care of your own!"

You really have to see the entire confrontation for yourself, beginning with Rand Paul's cowardly and lightning-fast sprint from the table:

Fortunately, there's something you can do about this. Chip in $3 today to help Daily Kos elect Jim Mower and defeat Steve King.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
