Today's diary by commonmass, "In Praise of my Late Husband" made me think that perhaps with all the other things which we do around here, that we could have a monthly diary which denotes all those who have left us and this Earth.
Of course, we don't always hear that someone has passed, unless they were a member of a group or a good friend with another Kossack, but for the most part, it seems that we get the news.
I've read a number of diaries over the years which tell of the passing of someone, from Meteor Blade's annoucement to the Community of Kris Froland's passing back in 2011, to those written by spouses or children who know the Kossack's wishes and write here, under that person's name to let us know that we've lost them, too.
I would like very much if we could memorialize the passing of our members in a less haphazard fashion.
Perhaps the IGTNT group would be willing to take on this task?
I don't imply that diaries written by family or friends to announce a passing is inappropriate. Only that I would appreciate knowing when it happens to anyone here I might know or care about, other than the random chance that I'll catch such a diary.
It's just a passing notion, but I hope you'll consider it.
UPDATE per MTmofo (and I agree, much better choice)
the Rescue Rangers might be a better group to enlist because their team members read every diary that gets published here.

There is a group already established
Group founded by Deep Harm
This group republishes obituaries, memorials and last diaries of Daily Kos members who have passed on. Help us by adding the tag "In Memoriam" to past and current diaries, making them easier to find and add to our collection.
