Remember THIS guy?
One of four gubernatorial candidates introduced to California Republicans recently is a registered sex offender who spent more than a decade in state prison, convicted of crimes including voluntary manslaughter and assault with intent to commit rape.
Glenn Champ, 48, addressed hundreds of GOP delegates and supporters Sunday at the site of the state party's semi-annual convention.
Terrifyingly enough, he actually '...came in fifth in the gubernatorial primary in June with over 76,000 votes...' Sufferin' catfish, California...have you lost your collective goddamned marbles?
At the time, Raw Story revealed:
Champ’s criminal history is extensive. Court records show that he pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed firearm in 1992. In 1993, he was convicted of two counts of assault with intent to commit rape and was placed on the state’s sex-offender registry.
In March 1998, he accepted a plea deal on a charge of loitering to solicit a prostitute. In the same year he pleaded no contest to a voluntary manslaughter charge after hitting a man with his vehicle, and was sentenced to 12 years in state prison.
The charming Mr. Champ went on to outline his qualifications for gubernatorial office:
Champ explained that experience with the criminal justice system could help him deal with politicians in Sacramento, calling them criminals.
Saying that politicians routinely infringe upon constitutionally protected gun rights, Champ said, “I know what the criminal mind thinks, and I know how it works and I know how to stop it, and that’s something [other politicians] don’t get.”
Uh-huh. Well, you'll never guess what the delightful Mr. Champ has been up to lately...or maybe you would. According to
The Fresno Bee:
The Fresno County man who campaigned for governor this year has been arrested in connection with the shooting of his neighbor and the slaying of a horse Thursday afternoon.
Tye "Glenn" Champ, 48, was taken into custody around midday Friday near Goshen without incident. A Tulare County sheriff's deputy caught up to him on a traffic stop.

Oh, well...I guess Sacremento's loss is the California penal system's gain.
