That's a new ad from the Republican Governors Association for Maine's Paul LePage, Chris Christie's new
BFF on the campaign trail. And it seems like they might have had a hard time coming up with anything to put in this positive ad to recommend their candidate. So you get things like:
"Governor LePage is a real person."
"He's blunt."
"He's brutally honest."
"Extremely candid."
"He's not like anybody else."
That's one way of putting it. Another might be "delusional." Take for example, his assertion that the
IRS could become the Gestapo and that the agency is "headed in that [the Holocaust] direction." I guess that could be construed as "blunt." And certainly "not like anybody else." When he said that
President Obama "hates white people", he was saying what a lot of teabagger kind of people have said, just not very many of them elected to the highest office in their state.
"Look what Governor LePage has done for domestic violence."
He signed a bill that the legislature passed about domestic violence. You know what else he did? he
talked about whether state Democratic leaders were guilty of treason and should be executed with "Sovereign Citizens," members of a group considered a domestic terrorist movement.
"And he's trying to get more money for the elderly."
And he says Social Security and Medicare are
welfare, "redistribution of wealth—taking money from hard-working taxpayers and giving it to a growing number of welfare recipients." So there's that.
"Welfare reform."
Would advocating for
11 year-olds going to work count as welfare reform?
"I think Maine has become a stronger state because of him."
Or, who knows, Maine could be stronger because of
global warming which is something else LePage really does believe.
None of which made it into this new ad, which seems to be trying to put a happy face on all of it by suggesting LePage isn't a crazy extremist, he's just "blunt."
Please give $3 to help Mike Michaud give LePage the boot.
