Oh, he's clever.
Don't be fooled, the savvy Republican congressman says. President Obama
wants to be impeached. Oh, how he wants to be impeached, all as a sneaky plot
to make the Republicans look bad.
“Believe me, let’s make one thing perfectly clear,” said Rep. Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina in a radio interview with WQSC 1340 last week. “The only people who want impeachment more than the right wing of the Republican Party is the entire Democrat Party.”
“Oh, they’re desperate for impeachment. They would love to be able to talk about impeachment and immigration between now and the November elections. Instead of talking about jobs, and the economy, and health care. They are desperate to change the dialogue, which is exactly why you heard the president starting to talk about his amnesty cause he’s begging to be impeached.”
Hey pal, whatever helps you make sense of this topsy-turvy world.
“Let’s not fall into a trap when the guy absolutely wants to be impeached,” the congressman said, citing money raised by Democrats exploiting the supposed threat of impeachment
Should we be rooting for this theory to take hold? For Republicans to finally convince themselves and the crackpots of their base to stop talking about how the president ought to be impeached because that's exactly what Obama
wants them to talk about? That Sarah Palin et al. are just pawns in this masterful game of chess? But wait—the theory is that the president is going to pursue "amnesty" or other supposedly impeachable things in order to
force Republicans to impeach him. So will Republicans need to impeach Obama for
wanting to be impeached, since Obama is counting on
not being impeached to do things that they
would impeach him for?
Hmm, we're going to have to make a flowchart for this one. Suffice it to say that whatever Republicans are doing at any point in time, it's all Barack Obama's fault.
