Edit: This was originally posted yesterday morning, after a few requests, I have decided to repost it here for everyone tonight. The challenge below remains the same.
I want to challenge everyone, everyone on DailyKos, everyone around the internet, everywhere in the country to think about one thing. Remember back to the worst thing you did as a 16, 17, 18 year old kid. Then ask yourself if what you did could be considered reasonable justification for being gunned down in the street shortly thereafter. The statute of limitations has run out on most of us, show some bravery and own up to past mistakes. Michael Brown (allegedly) stole some cigars and pushed around a store clerk. What did you do that was comparable or worse??
I myself once drove drunk without headlights in a torrential downpour for five miles with 4 passengers in the car. I would have been responsible for all their deaths if things had gone the wrong way. Is what I did any better than what Michael Brown did?? Why is the fact that a 18 year old did something stupid a legitimate excuse for him being executed in the street minutes later?? Did we all "deserve" to die after making these mistakes. Please share your stories.
