The evening air is heavy with the lingering smell from the canisters of gas that have been used against the peaceful crowd, yet there is an electricity in the air. The Winds of Change are Blowing strong and are undeniable, in every word and action as a few hundred strong stand against an enemy that cannot be seen behind their masks. There is an air of inevitability that slowly marches forward and time seems to stand still.
There will be Blood.
Like a Nor'easter you can see coming yet are helpless to stop, one wonders how this storm came to be.
A President who was so busy appeasing the right he could no longer see the despair in the faces of these brave young men and women who so desperately needed his leadership. So now they stand as one defiantly showing the world that it is time to say no more.
A Governor who was laying low waiting for a chance to be the Vice President. Now over matched, overwhelmed, out of words, and under performing at the time he was needed most. His deeds will follow him from this day forward, as the winds of change will not allow people to forget the actions he took against the innocent people just looking for answers.
A Prosecutor and a Police Chief who are of the Police, by the Police, and most importantly, for the Police. Somewhere along the line they have lost the most important tenant of being a Police Officer, to Protect and Serve.
New to the mix is a Militarized Police Force, dressed for war and heavily armed to deliver their form of justice. All the while using weapons that were meant to kill that they do not know how to use, but are more than willing to test against those who would stand unarmed in front of them.
There will be blood.
Economic inequality mixed with institutionalized Racism have brought on this dangerous time and place. While the 1% are unable but mostly unwilling to make the changes needed to end the despair that has become so much a part of daily life.
Yes, the Winds of Change are coming, restless and never ending, hopefully the soul of Michael Brown will somehow find peace in the raised hands of his friends and neighbors.
