Di Rosa Art Collection
Since noted art critic and enthusiast Dave in Northridge is visiting, we determined that we would explore the art collection at Di Rosa, which is in Napa county about an hour away.
Sited on over 200 extraordinary acres of vineyard, gardens, and natural landscape in the Carneros region of the Napa Valley, di Rosa originated as the shared vision of Rene and Veronica di Rosa, prolific collectors whose personal passion for art and adventuresome spirits fueled their support of art and artists. Their home and the famed vineyards around Winery Lake became the focal point not only for their life, but the development of the world class art collection that is now housed in three buildings, both contemporary and historic, as well as on the surrounding landscape.
Fortified with a oatmeal breakfast, we set off and saw the sheep grazing on the hillside,
as expected. Note that there's a black sheep in every bunch.
This being the Bay area the parking lot held mostly Prius's.
Dave was enjoying the lake and beautiful grounds.
This is not Dave.
This woman was at the entry door. It is an artist's conception of a Kossack emptying her tip jar.
More tip jars. These are actually two dimensional, similar to Rand Paul.
This kaleidoscope projection was in a darkened room, and changed every second, that is, constantly moving. We stared at it for hours a while.
We didn't take the whole tour due to time constraints (KTK). We saw the Domaine Carneros winery across the highway. High end, filled with the young and rich and beautiful, enjoying champagne and truffled whitefish plates while they smiled showing their perfect teeth and descending the stairs to the awaiting limos.
Although we fit in well we decided to take our leave and return home for a beer and a chicken sandwich. Sonoma vs. Napa, just sayin.
Do you go to local or famous art galleries? Would you go alone or only in a group? Is it important to be educated about the art or just……"I know what I like"? Would a Dutch Master think Picasso was an artist? And other musings on art or the usual (anything and everything). The easel is prepared for you.

Kitchen Table Kibitzing is a community series for those who wish to share part of the evening around a virtual kitchen table with kossacks who are caring and supportive of one another. So bring your stories, jokes, photos, funny pics, music, and interesting videos, as well as links—including quotations—to diaries, news stories, and books that you think this community would appreciate. Readers may notice that most who post diaries and comments in this series already know one another to some degree, but newcomers should not feel excluded. We welcome guests at our kitchen table, and hope to make some new friends as well.
