Defense points to Bob McDonnell's wife as source of loans

August 19, 2014 - Former Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell's lawyers continued to build a case Tuesday that it was McDonnell's wife, Maureen, who orchestrated the receipt of more than $165,000 in gifts and loans from Virginia CEO Jonnie Williams in exchange for promoting his dietary supplement.

The couple was charged with a 14-count indictment just weeks after McDonnell's term as governor ended. They could face fines of more than $1 million and decades in jail.

On the stand Tuesday was Bob McDonnell's sister -also named Maureen - who owned a real estate business called MoBo Real Estate Partners. Maureen C. McDonnell showed a series of text messages she exchanged with the then-first lady regarding a $50,000 loan from Williams.  read more>>>

No wonder there's rumors, also more 'family value' charges of, of her fantasies of amour with others for her. With a 'dick' like her husband, he's not just coming around now, she probably had plenty floating around of others, but the status and power kept her in that place of stature. Though I imagine, no matter the verdict, these two are now splits-ville.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

"Who is former VA Governor McDonnell?"

I knew this a diary about that slime ball. Though one thing about those "family values". I think he and his wife are playing games here. Hoping to use their supposed marital problems to find a way to beat these charges. So I'm not sure he's really throwing her under a bus, or to the wolves, etc. but they're both displaying the most Republican of values -- "Looking out for #1".

GOP 2014 strategy -- Hire clowns, elephants, and a ringmaster and say "a media circus" has emerged and blame Democrats for lack of progress. Have pundits agree that "both sides are to blame" and hope the public will stay home on election day.

Not really as he wears that (R), that if she was such a bitch and was doing all this, not him, why he didn't divorce her while still in office, and not look like he was enjoying all these perks.

Oh wait, that wouldn't be the 'christian' thing to do, especially when the FOX speak is about 'family values' that others don't have, just them folk with them (R)'s!!

Ran across this so I thought I'd throw it out there before shutting this down for the night.

Seems this has fallen off the radar, not surprising, so it should get some notice, though I'll bet both of them would just as soon not see any reporting about, especially hubby!!

I guess so.  They'll get separate cells, at least.  Maybe separate prisons.

Every once in a while my husband and/or I have to say to the other "Now Look".  It's what happens in a marriage when one of you is acting like a doosh.

Hard to believe, Bob never said that to Miss Maureen.  It's what you do in a long marriage.  I've been married for 46 years, and there have been those moments for each of us.

Either Bob was blind & deaf or completely terrified of his wife or compliant or uninterested.  But none of those reasons excuses his culpability.

He could have been complicit but doesn't want to take the fall so he blames it on her with his sister as a witness.

McDonnell's sister also added more context to the narrative that the governor's marriage was falling apart. She said her sister-in-law had two sides - one sweet and tender, and another that was "manipulative" "unpredictable" and "deceptive." The former first lady also referred to the governor's mansion as "that prison mansion."
Are we supposed to believe the governor was cuckhold? Sorry I just don't believe that. I think they were two greedy and power hungry people.

Bob "Vaginal Probe" McDonnell for nothing.

Is he not sticking it to his own wife or what?
