So many cops and conservatives will give anything a try to libel Michael Brown. It's the classic "blame the victim" form of racism. They can't stand the idea that perhaps a white cop committed a crime. They will do anything to detract and defame, including making stuff up. Kos wrote about the lengths that conservatives will go to "smear Michael Brown"
So, the CT scans of Darren Wilson's head presented as fact by conservatives are in reality fake. Well, not fake. They are real CT scans of an eye socket injury. It's just not Darren Wilson's eye socket.
As if that piece of Reich Wing propaganda was not enough, a Kansas City police officer, Marc Catron, posted a picture on the "Support Darren Wilson" Facebook page proclaiming it to be of Michael Brown. The photo is of an African-American guy pointing a gun with a wad of cash in his mouth. The officer wrote this caption:
“I’m sure Michael Brown is innocent and just misunderstood. I’m sure he’s a pillar of the Ferguson community.”
Obviously, it was an attempt to libel Michael Brown to help the cause of fellow police officer Darren Wilson. The guy in the photo may perhaps vaguely resemble Michael Brown in the eyes; however, it is obviously not Michael Brown. Officer Catron likely thought that people would not notice. Perhaps "they all look alike" to officer Catron??
The problem is, apparently "they all look alike" to a number of conservative trolls that have been spamming the photo on Facebook as the real McCoy. Here is a screen grab by one such Wilson supporter:
Officer Catron
has been discredited by an Oregon news station.
The article makes it seem as though it was just an accident on the part of Catron. What is concerning is the fact that the KC Police Department calls this deliberate attempt to libel Brown "an internal personnel issue".
Sun Aug 24, 2014 at 12:37 PM PT: A number of people are asking for various links (RW sites with the bogus CT scans, etc). Everything is linked in the diary, including the Oregon news report about the fake picture of Michael Brown as posted by Officer Catron.
I also wanted to add some things to the diary that I addressed in the comment section regarding Officer Catron posting the "wrong" picture of Michael Brown:
I think they [conservatives] either don't know what Brown actually looks like or it's the all black people look alike kind of thing. It demonstrates the intent of the police officer, since it does not resemble Michael Brown. How could it be a mistake if they look different? So, either the cop thinks all black people look alike and got confused or he was intentionally race baiting and libeling Michael Brown.
Either way, it should not be just an "internal personnel issue."
That cop's actions are a proxy of his character and his integrity as a cop.
