I received a new communication from Zephyr Teachout yesterday. It highlights the stark difference in choice of a running mate between her and Governor 1%. See below.....

Also check out this great diary posted late last night by Kossak xaxnar

email communication from Zephyr Teachout:

I'm a traditional Democrat: I believe in fully funding public schools, welcoming immigrants, banning fracking, and investing in infrastructure.

I chose Tim Wu as my running mate because he stands for these values - Tim's been challenging corporate power for a very long time in his writings and in his work at the Federal Trade Commission.

Governor Cuomo is not that kind of Democrat -- as Republican Senate Leader Skelos has said, he's more of a "moderate Republican." This is evident when you look at his choice for running mate, Kathy Hochul.

Hochul's record in public office and stated views can lead to only one conclusion: she is not a Democrat.

Last Friday, a campaign volunteer, Tim from Brooklyn, sent us a video of Kathy Hochul describing her own record in her own words. You’ve got to see this to believe it:

This video shows what is at stake in this race, and I need your help in getting the word out. Not only is this an eye-opening video, it demonstrates the kind of campaign we are running: grassroots, do-it-yourself. We don't have millions from special interest groups - we have a large group of small donors and activists who are putting their passion and creativity to work to help us win this thing.

On September 9th Tim will go head-to-head with Hochul on the ballot and we need your help in educating voters about her record. Please share this video through email, Facebook, Twitter and word of mouth.

With opponents who are silent on the issues and who refuse to debate, we need every registered Democrat in New York to get a chance to see why this race is so important. (And if you are so inspired, make one yourself!)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

  •  Letting Hochul speak for herself is effective. (6+ / 0-)

What prompts a self-centered authoritarian to call herself a democrat?  Lack of conscience, in the sense of being conscious or self-aware. These people can show up anywhere because their identification depends almost entirely on whom they are associating with in the moment. They've got verbal skills akin to the chameleon's ability to change color according to the background.

    Hochul, a verbal chameleon.

One could say they tell people what they want to hear, but it's more a case of them being good mimics. They repeat what they hear. Mixed company is likely to trip them up. Audio recordings spell disaster.

I'd make the point that it's not a matter of hypocrisy or lying. These people have no convictions to disguise. They are amoral in that they have no moral sense. They're not out to injure other people; they just don't care about them at all.
Self-centered, like a top spinning on its axis.

I met Zephyr Teachout yesterday at a breakfast meeting with local supporters in my neck of the Long Island woods.

Impressive does not begin to describe Ms Teachout. Not only from a progressive policy viewpoint, but her personality and common touch. She was funny, self-deprecating and all ears and attentive to anyone making a point or observation. Good listener.

I think the choice of Hochul has as much to with her husband as any political calculus. A little insurance against another Preet Bharara flanking him from the Western District. Not that there is any reason to question William Hochul's integrity, but I'm sure Cuomo's goal to insert bedroom politics as a stumbling block to a federal inquiry into all weirdness in Western New York that would inevitably wind up on his doorstep.

as I am for Teachout. I saw this video last night and got a little sick from it. This is why I support Teachout over Cuomo and this is why I will never, ever vote for a "Blue Dog" democrat like Cuomo or Clinton again. These people simply don't give a shit about progressive values or policy. They're simply "pro life" republicans with no where else to go.
