currently thought plausible amounts of rise in sea level are for 2040 and 2050 TJ? People have been asking me a lot lately. But the last estimate I can recall is from way long ago and I'm remembering 18 inches which has probably changed by now.
Well, here's a guesstimate:
Previous IPCC report (via Wikipedia)
Predictions from curve:
2100 Upper = 2.6 ft Lower = .66 ft
2050 Upper = .82 ft Lower = .33 ft
2050 Upper = 31% of 2100 rise
Lower = 50% of 2100 rise
As pointed out in the Wikipedia article, this is only glacial melt and thermal expansion and there's a lot of upside to these predictions.
So, if the new 2100 upper is 7 feet, and the response curve is the same shape:
2050 Upper = 2.2 ft
Lower = .40 ft
I ran 2 foot rise using the link below and it looks grim for the eastern seaboard.
