Take an Uzi, stupid adults and a child, mix them together and what do you get? Well, in the case of the incident at Bullets and Burgers--I guess that's a better name than Bullets and Beers--you get a dead stupid adult. This is all the fault of stupid adults. A lot of them. Tragically stupid, criminally stupid adults.
The NRA is just fine with it all--of course! Children can have fun at the shooting range. And they get to learn gun safety. And they learn to defend themselves against anybody who might happen to be in the general vicinity when they have a loaded gun in their hands, like a black person, a sibling, a friend, parent or instructor. Cool. They're having fun. Until they kill someone.
This unfortunate "accident" is no accident. It is the foreseeable, inevitable consequence of stupid adults using a 9 year old girl to prove how safe guns are. It is the inevitable result of decades of the gun industry and its shill, the NRA, scaring the hell out of people and bribing and bullying cowering politicians. No need for the taxpayers to fund any studies that might provide verifiable data and quantifiable results about the effect of guns on society lest they be used to inform the citizens of America. The NRA also knows the answers already anyway. They aren't good for business.
Of course if the same 9 year old girl were allowed to drive a car, or perhaps a more apt comparison would be a drag racer, it would be no surprise if she got into a fatal "accident." The stupid adults who thought it was a good idea would be arrested and charged.
But apparently in the death of range instructor Charles Vacca, no charges will be filed. No criminals here. Nobody broke the law which means the law is broke. The teacher died because his curriculum was about creating death. He was a veteran who knew about death. He knew better, but he needed a job, so he took one teaching people, including children, how to kill other people. The target was a human silhouette. The lesson wasn't about self defense. The Uzi is an assault weapon capable of firing dozens of rounds per second. And therefore the lesson could not possibly have been about gun safety. No one could reasonably think that giving a child such a weapon is safe, just as no one could reasonably think that putting a child in the seat of a 10,000 horsepower top fuel dragster is safe.
The parents paid the tuition for their daughter to learn how to fire a weapon designed for one purpose--to kill humans. They found out the hard way that she was an overachiever. Now she knows what killing a human feels like, way ahead of schedule. Proud parents; not. Stupid parents. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid adults!
