Hi beer fans! Happy Friday! I've found some beery news items for us.
I'll lead with the Sierra Club's list of the "greenest" beers:
To even be considered for a Good Food Award, beer makers must recycle water, source locally, and not use genetically modified ingredients. To win, they have to be tasty, too.
Environmental consciousness is certainly not any impediment to making tasty beer: the five winners include two of my favorite breweries, Deschutes and Bear Republic.

Going from figurative to literal greenness, the hop harvest is coming in and those of us in the northwest have a brief chance to get wet hop ales. I wonder if any of those norcal ones will find their way to San Jose?

According to the Beer Institute, hop farmers are among 242,000 Californians employed producing or selling beer.
The study said the California beer industry annually pays $11 billion in wages; contributes more than $6 billion in federal, state and local taxes; and has a total economic impact or more than $34 billion.

And for anyone who ever really wanted to put 99 bottles of beer on their wall, here they all are in one box.
Take one down and pass it around...
[edit: there's a good diary about this from thenekkidtruth earlier today, he and friends are making a detailed investigation!]

I've got something called Tap 79 IPA from Trader Joe's. What are you drinking? Is anyone brewing this weekend?
