As Sen. Menendez discussed with Candy Crowley on her state of the union show, he believes that the Ukraine needs to be armed with defensive weapons. I'm just wondering with the world in such turmoil is it a good idea to be the world's arms supplier? Look what happened with Iraq, ISIS, now has some extremely modern weapons at its disposal, most of them are American-made. In Iraq we're flying missions to blow up some of our own stuff that we donated or left over there. Does it make sense? Will the Ukraine be any different? Do you think it is any coincidence that the more dysfunctional American government becomes the more crises crop up on the world stage? Personally, for myself, I believe it's absolutely related. As a matter of fact, it's exactly the tack Al Qaeda planned to use, and in particular, Osama bin Laden. He came out and said he would make the United States spend itself broke, I think Putin picked up on that.
The United States "should provide the Ukrainians with the type of defensive weapons that will impose a cost" upon Russian President Vladimir Putin, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez, speaking from a fact-finding mission in Ukraine, said Sunday.
"Thousands of Russian troops are here with tanks, missiles, heavy artillery and are directly engaged in what is clearly an invasion," the New Jersey Democrat told CNN "State of the Union" host Candy Crowley Sunday. "This is a watershed moment."
