The Post is a right wing rag, but this is just news or at least 'analysis' - and they seem to enjoy needling Cuomo in a way the NY Times can't (they think they have standards) and the NY Daily News won't (Publisher Mort Zuckerman was on Cuomo's plane to Israel - Cuomo's only campaign event so far).
The story analyzes what Cuomo might do if Tim Wu - not improbably - wins the Democratic Primary for Lieutenant Governor over Cuomo's choice, Kathy Hochul. They speculate that Cuomo might be forced to 'painfully' dump Kathy Hochul from the Women's Equality Party Line (where she is the only woman on a statewide slate which includes three men) and the Working Families Party Line.
And - more hilariously - they speculate on where the vindictive, bullying Cuomo might house his shotgun marriage running mate in the event that a Cuomo/Wu ticket wins:
Wags in the political world, referring to a “Wu is me’’ electoral outcome for Cuomo, are joking about the office a re-elected governor would assign to Wu if he does become lieutenant governor.
Among the possibilities: (1) the dank and dusty P-1 subterranean parking garage adjacent to the state Capitol; (2) the lonely one-man State Police security booth that leads to the Capitol’s historic carriage entrance; and (3) the tiny unmarked men’s room opposite the governor’s secretary’s office on the third floor of the Capitol.
How this might come to be below the fold:
Tim Wu and Kathy Hochul are in a tight race for Lt. Governor. How tight? Well the MSM is putting a lid on the polls because... we're not sure why...
Here's why Cuomo would think of dumping Hochul:
Such an action could be needed because a Wu victory [in the September 9 Democratic Primary] would result in a Cuomo/Wu ticket on the Democratic line in the November election but potentially disastrous Cuomo/Hochul tickets on the Working Families, Independence, and Women’s Equality lines, where no primaries are slated.
Under the state Election Law, votes for a Cuomo/Hochul ticket in November would not be added to the tally for the Cuomo/Wu ticket, potentially costing Cuomo hundreds of thousands of votes.
Hochul could only leave the two fusion tickets if she were given a judgeship. Not a bad reward for two months of mediocre campaigning. And that assumes she has passed the NY State Bar....
To what depths won't Andrew Cuomo stoop in order to paint himself as a turd way Democratic Presidential contender...firing the only woman (of four statewide candidates) on the ticket from the Women's Equality party? Founding the Women's Equality party to stab his supposed new ally - the Working Families Party - in the back? Balancing budgets by cutting billions from schools - and giving billions in tax breaks to his biggest donors? Gleefully supporting Republican State Senators?... Ad nauseum.
I'm voting for Teachout/Wu on September 9.
Watch Cuomo twist. I wish Shakespeare were here to write his monologues.
