That thumping sound you hear is the heads of dozens of fact-checkers' heads hitting their desks repeatedly over this new ad in Arkansas from Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS. It's responding to Sen. Mark Pryor's
"Cancer" ad.
On TV, Mark Pryor talks about the health care law he helped pass. What Pryor doesn’t say is that law was Obamacare. Or that it cuts over $700 billion from our Medicare and will cut benefits seniors rely on. Obamacare meant threatened insurance plans, higher premiums, and broken promises.
Here we go again, with the
big lie of the 2012 campaign, that Obamacare cut $716 billion from Medicare. That lie was debunked more times than I can count in 2012, and dozens more times since. As for the other stuff, well, Arkansas has
had the biggest drop in uninsured people in the entire nation, thanks to Obamacare.
Higher premiums? No. Next year premiums for plans on the exchange will drop by two percent on average. Broken promises? That's about sub-par plans being cancelled, and Arkansas is one of the states that took the administration up on its offer to let those non-compliant plans stick around a few years longer, giving people more time to adjust. So, yeah, Arkansans could keep their plans.
