My SO and I have just returned from the picket line at Wendy’s in Greensboro, NC. There were 30-50 enthusiastic strikers and supportive members of the community. The chanting was to the accompaniment of the Cackalack Thunder Drum Corps, who are often to be heard at rallies and pickets in the area. Initially, it seemed that passing drivers were less demonstrative in their agreement with the demand for $15/hr, but starting about 9:30, the honking, thumbs up and raised fists became more frequent. Wendy’s is on the affluent west side of Greensboro, near the corner of W. Market St and Muir’s Chapel Road. Other pickets that I have been on in East Greensboro, which is working class and African-American, have generally, and not surprisingly, drawn a greater outpouring of support from passers-by.
Let’s try to keep this diary on the front page so everyone can chime in.
