Note: This diary is in support of an ongoing crowdfunding effort by the North American Indian Center of Boston (NAICOB). The funding will play a crucial role in helping regenerate the building they've occupied for the last 40 years. Please help in any way you can - ideally, by Rec'ing and sharing as widely as you can, and if time and finances allow, with whatever you can provide to help with the fundraising effort. Times are tight for many of us - simply sharing news of this effort is more than appreciated. Please read on, and thank you.
There are only
six five days left in the crowdfunding effort. To date,
$3,013 $3,138 have been raised. The goal is $200,000.
That's a pretty stark and significant difference.
Since the crowdfunding campaign began, many things have happened - nationally and internationally, on-site and off.
But now, as NAICOB's campaign draws to a close, they find themselves far short of their goal, which was intended to help them fund work on their building - their home - so that they could re-establish their qualifications and regain some of the grant funding they'd had but lost, as well as prepare to seek new sources of funding and establish new programs to help the Native American & First Nations people in and around Boston.
They could use your help.
I posted my first diary about NAICOB and their fundraising campaign on July 13. Since then, I've written and posted six others - this will be my seventh.
- "We're still here" - for now: NAICOB Fundraiser
- Foundations cast in stone and spirit: NAICOB
- NAICOB Regeneration Crowdfunding Challenge: "Two for Tuesday"
- Where Worlds Collide: Hearth & Home, Culture and Soul
- A Simple Request for the North American Indian Center of Boston
- Community Fundraiser - Help NAICOB
Perhaps seven is the lucky number.
Maybe that's the number that will hit the firehose of diaries just right, and catch enough attention that it hits the Rec list and social media in a way that catches the eyes of folks who can help them reach their goal.
You've learned a bit about the folks at NAICOB, and their history, as well as the things they do for the Native American and First Nations people in and around the Boston and New England area.
You've learned how they lost almost half of their functional space.
You've learned how some programs they've run in the past cannot be renewed or re-funded until their building - their home for forty years or so - is repaired.
If you can, please help by spreading the word, encouraging others to read the past diaries and to work to help alert others about NAICOB's goal.
The more eyes that see this, the higher the likelihood that we can edge even a little closer to their goal.
Every little bit helps: if this fundraising effort doesn't hit their goal, at least they've gained something. For an organization that's done so much for its community, every bit of encouragement and assistance is important - every dollar gets them closer. Every mention - in person, or electronically - lets more people know, and increases the chance of driving the donations higher.
Can you help?
